The Quiet Force That Shapes Our Future
Welcome to NEXTletter, your personal 121 (One To One) with your future - 1 question, 2 perspectives, 1 experiment.

On a winding trail just outside Seoul🇰🇷, I paused for a breath.
An older man, hiking alone, approached quietly. He didn’t speak.
He reached into his bag, pulled out a perfectly peeled pear, and offered it to me with both hands.
No words.
Just a soft smile.
A quiet gift from one stranger to another.
Later, I learned this was Jeong (정) —
a Korean word for deep, unspoken connection.
It’s not love. Not duty.
It’s something felt — built slowly through presence, care, and consistency.
A few days later, I stood in front of 100 leaders at Samsung.
Before I even spoke, one of them approached me.
He had a worn copy of my book, pages full of notes, underlined passages, and questions in the margins.
No big performance. Just quiet, thoughtful preparation.
Another form of Jeong.
And then, over lunch with my Korean publishing team, one person said something I won’t forget:
“We don’t say everything with words. Sometimes, we express care by staying close, by making sure you’re never alone here.”
She didn’t mean physically — she meant emotionally, relationally, humanly.
That’s also Jeong.
And I felt it.
ONE QUESTION TO REFLECT ON

What’s one quiet way you could show you care today?
TWO PERSPECTIVES TO CONSIDER
1️⃣ The Cultural Lens – Jeong as Quiet Devotion In Korea, Jeong isn’t announced. It’s accumulated. You feel it in: It’s not about being seen — it’s about seeing. It teaches us: connection isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s what happens in silence that stays the longest. | 2️⃣ The Future Lens – Presence as a Path We often think the future is built through fast moves, big ideas, bold steps. But maybe it’s shaped in how we show up — without being asked. Jeong reminds us: the future isn’t a solo pursuit. It’s a shared direction. And every quiet act of care is a step forward — together. A future-ready mindstate isn’t only about innovation. It’s about attention. Because the smallest moments of generosity can shape the biggest futures. |
***Business Special: How to, as an owner, manager or leader help your employees shape their future.
I see the most exciting transformations where people courageously break new ground – whether in corporations, startups, or medium-sized businesses.
Together with Julia Stadler – CDO of one of Germany's most innovative corporate groups – I invite you to an interactive session (in German language):
✨ How do you create a culture of curiosity, openness, and innovation? ✨ Why does true transformation not begin with tools, but with the mind state – the inner spirit of the future? ✨ And how do we specifically activate this spirit in the everyday lives of teams and companies?
You'll receive proven formats, practical inspiration – and perhaps the decisive shift in perspective for your company. I look forward to seeing you.

ONE EXPERIMENT

Today, offer one silent act of connection. No announcement. No credit. Just care.
Here are some ways to live it — wherever you are:
In your relationships
– Leave a kind note where they’ll find it later
– Do something thoughtful without being asked
– Simply sit beside someone without needing to fill the silence
At work
– Prepare just a little more than expected for your colleague
– Share a useful insight or resource, quietly
– Acknowledge someone’s effort in a 1:1, not a meeting
With friends or family
– Send a message that just says: “Thinking of you.”
– Take over a small task without making it a thing
– Make time, not just plans
Let it be ordinary.
Let it be real.
Let it be enough.
Because the quiet ways you care today may be what someone remembers tomorrow.
NEW PODCAST EPISODE - The Future Is HOW
This week on The Future is HOW, we explore how asking better questions can shape your future. My guest is Marc Champagne, author of Personal Socrates and host of Behind the Human. He believes the next big disruption won’t be technological — it will be psychological. |
Together, we talk about:
– How questions unlock clarity in uncertain times
– The “mental gym” of future thinking
– What to do when you feel stuck
– The most powerful question: What if it were possible?
– Why being present is the first step toward preparing for what’s next
📺 Special for Our Community: The video of my conversation with Marc.
This conversation pairs perfectly with today’s experiment.
It’s quiet, practical, and just might help you get unstuck — with a single question.
P.S. You can always listen to The Future is HOW while walking, driving, or sharing a quiet moment with yourself. Let it be your companion for deeper reflection.
